Robyn is a planner and community development practitioner with expertise in strategic planning and structured decision support, community and economic development, communications and public engagement. Robyn’s recent applied work has included traditional land use mapping, regional growth planning, active transportation and healthy built environments, food security and social enterprise development. She has worked in urban and rural communities throughout British Columbia and Alberta as well as internationally and with private, public and non-profit agencies. Recently Robyn co-facilitated a week-long workshop at the International Urban Training Centre in South Korea on Strategic Planning for Eco-Efficient and Socially Inclusive Infrastructure. Delivered in partnership with UN-HABITAT AND UNESCAP, the session brought together local government professionals from around the Asia-Pacific. Robyn’s international work also includes a local economic development training strategy with the government of Liberia, the formation of a Sustainable Consumption Network including 13 Central and Eastern European countries, attendance as an official delegate at the 2005 United Nations Climate Change Conference, and the organization of several local economic development learning events at the World Urban Forum in 2006. Robyn is approved as a Qualified Supplier of Professional Citizen Engagement Services by the BC Government’s Ministry of Labour, Citizens and Immigration. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from McGill University and is currently completing a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) in Community Economic Development at Cape Breton University. She is president of the Board of Directors for the Environmental Youth Alliance, a Vancouver-based, sustainability focused non-profit.
